SPECULATIVE REMEMORY - AN EVENT AND GALLERY SHOW

Join us on Tuesday 28 January from 6pm at Grow in Hackney Wick for an evening exploring the outcomes of experimental project inspired by Alice Billing House- Speculative ReMemory.

Expect excerpts from the new digital archive (launching in January 2025) as well as physical manifestations of the work on Grow's Mezzanine Gallery and the opportunity to congregate with the artists involved in the project and set from DJ Sweetwan.

The cumulative creative contributions have emerged from a network of artists and local communities, by drawing inspiration from community-focused forms of storytelling practices, such as somatic sharing circles and conversations whilst breaking bread with one another, to create a body of work that utilises experimental and experiential formats of archival with artistic outcomes.

The ideologies the work is centred on are rooted in feminist and anti-colonial epistemological frameworks, with the intention to unearth the rhizomatic connective tissues between past, present to contemplate on what a restorative future could look like.

The archive project is led by artist and programme facilitator, Sandra Falase, part of an engagement programme run by Grow Studios at Alice Billing House in Stratford, supported by the Creative Land Trust and Heritage Lottery Fund.
