COMMUNITY PLANTING DAY

Planting Day at Alice Billing House: 2 April 2025

On the 2nd of April, we had a community planting day. We planted our newly built planters with grasses, perennials, shrubs, bulbs, and herbs to improve the entrance courtyard and provide a space for the artists and visitors to enjoy.

Led by Stephen Shiell, a Newham-based community garden artist, community members and studio holders learnt about the plants used and the history of our unique building.

“It was lovely to discover such an amazing new community space and find out more about its future use. Working alongside Steve, the professional gardener, was a great experience; his knowledge and encouragement were a real highlight of the day”

Julie, volunteer

This event was part of an engagement programme run by Grow Studios at Alice Billing House in Stratford, supported by the Creative Land Trust and Heritage Lottery Fund.
