FREE: PLACES, SPACES & FACES WORKSHOP

FREE EVENT FOR NEWHAM RESIDENTS

Digital self-portrait workshop at historic Alice Billing House

Did you know that Alice Billing House is named after the first female sanitary inspector in Newham.  In 1897 this important role, involved improving working conditions for women, and investigating the causes of infectious diseases and child mortality.

Alice was a pioneer and champion for change in women’s health.

Places, Spaces & Faces a fun, free, digital self-portrait activity exploring Alice Billing House. Learn about the person, behind the building, behind the name.

Do you know the story behind your street/building?

What would YOU like to be remembered for?

Create your own self-portrait on iPads, using a selfie photograph as the framework and add words, colour and texture.

The finished portraits will be uploaded and projected as they are completed, to create an instant evolving exhibition.

The activity will take 30 – 60 minutes – no experience necessary, amazing results every time!

All ages and families are welcome. iPads provided

This event is part of Newham Heritage Month 2024
