The Supper Cloth; Community Stitch Art Project at the Creative Industry Festival

Free, drop-in

Kicking off our community stitch art project - The Supper Cloth, this event will be at Creative Day, St John Church, part of UEL’s Creative Industry Festival and invites future creatives to sit down, slow down, and feed their creativity through stitching and co-creating a communal piece of embroidered art!

Facilitated and designed by Stitch School, the Supper Cloth is a large 3-meter embroidery table with a printed cloth designed with iconography relating to the history of Alice Billing House and Newham.

Participants will explore a wealth of embroidery stitches, learn together, and create a communal supper cloth to celebrate the art of needlework and the building's history. The finished cloth will form a legacy piece of artwork and will be on display in Alice Billing House.

The Supper Cloth will also be available to the general public to participate during their Open Studios on the 21st of September. On this day visitors will get the opportunity to explore the newly converted South Block of Alice Billing House, visit the private studios of the artist it houses, and learn about the building’s history and the future plans of the soon-to-be renovated North Block
