PART OF HIVE CURATE’S ALICE BILLINGS CONNECTS PROGRAMME (2023)

As part of a cultural programme along Stratford High Street to reinvigorate interest in Alice Billing House, in December 2023 Hive Creates commissioned Irish artist Andy Mac Manus to design artworks to showcase in the windows at The Westbridge Hotel and XIX Nineteen Cafe.

The work touched on Stratford’s heritage, the history of the businesses and the present day culture of both sites. Through both contemporary and traditional techniques, including digital and analogue collage, cut-outs and mark making, Andy explored shape and form to produce intuitive abstract designs and illustrations.

This initiative worked in partnership with Stratford BID and Creative Land Trust to shine a spotlight on these businesses with colourful art work to bring to life the vibrancy of these establishments.
